About Oliver Straiton

With a passion for the environment and sustainability which has created a 18 years career in environmental management and sustainability Oliver ventures into the realm of Environmental Consultancy. His career in environmental management, sustainability and waste management thus far has been in government, national and local in the U.K. and Australia, and in the private sector. He has extensive and broad waste and sustainability project management experience across both these sectors. His field knowledge and experience is backed by a Masters of Environmental Management as well as other certifications. He has gained recognition for strong ability to work well as a team member and leader, and for having an exceptional work ethic and high level of efficiency.

Other areas of specialisation include Sustainability education, writing and research. Project and events management. Carbon and greenhouse gas inventorying. Data analysis and presentation. Ecopsychology and counselling.

At depth Oliver is a passionate Environmentalist who believes that if the dominant cultural paradigm is to fundamentally ameliorate its relationship with the planet, deep psychological changes need to occur in its attitudes, perspectives and in the utilitarian viewpoint it has of the Earth. The Quadruple bottom line elements of sustainability can begin to address all the necessary aspects in making an entity holistically sustainable financially, socially, environmentally and spiritually for the people participating in them. Whilst these changes can not occur overnight on any level, any beginning on them is a step in the right direction towards genuine sustainability.

His Masters thesis on the subject of Ecopsychology and its relationship to long term genuine sustainability has been cited in Ecopsychology, the only peer-reviewed journal that places psychology and mental health in an ecological context to recognise the links between human health, culture, and the health of the planet.
